What is MTPE?
Machine translation post-editing (MTPE) is the human review and correction of a machine-translated draft against its source. The aim is accurate, complete, natural Bengali that meets the quality level agreed for your project.
Why experience matters
Machine output can sound fluent while getting an important point wrong. Professional translation experience since 2001 helps me recognize awkward source interpretation, misleading word choices, inconsistent terminology, and phrases that do not work for the intended reader.
My Ph.D. in Materials and Life Science and academic background in biochemistry support close reading of scientific concepts and specialist terminology. This matters when a mistranslated condition, instruction, or relationship changes the meaning of the original. Relevant terms and unclear statements are researched or raised as queries rather than guessed.
What I check and correct
- Mistranslations, missing content, additions, and changes in meaning.
- Negation, qualifications, instructions, and relationships between ideas.
- Names, dates, numbers, units, terminology, and repeated content.
- Bengali grammar, natural phrasing, tone, and readability.
- Locale suitability for Bengali-Bangladesh (bn-BD) or Bengali-India (bn-IN).
- Placeholders, tags, and formatting requirements where included in the agreed scope.
A source-based workflow
I assess a representative sample, agree the quality target and terminology, compare the draft with the source, correct the identified errors, and perform the agreed final checks. If the draft needs retranslation, I explain that before the scope is finalized.
Quality, not just a quick polish
Light post-editing for understanding and full post-editing for publication have different goals. We agree the required level, format, independent review needs, and deadline after assessing the material. The agreed review focuses on accuracy, completeness, terminology, and natural Bengali expression.
Start with a brief
Tell me the source language, domain, Bengali locale, approximate volume, machine-translation system used, and intended use. Please do not send confidential files through the initial enquiry form. File access and data-handling arrangements are agreed separately.
